Hungry Anja

Recently married and thinking about creating a family. Anja Marsic is a 30-year-old food and travel blogger and Instagrammer, who is originally from Croatia but moved to London three years ago.

Promoting brands and helping them with their social media is her main job. At the moment, Anja is working for a food delivery starter, EatFirst - the first online restaurant - she helps them with their social media account and to take photos. Then, during her free time she works on her blog and Instagram account.

It was during her childhood that Anja started to be interested in food. When she was about 10-years-old. “My mother could not make pizza, and I really wanted to have homemade pizza, I found a recipe somewhere and I tried to do it, that is how all started,” she said.

Back in school, she was studying Russian and was starting to write her recipes. It was her Russian teacher - that was also interested in her recipes - who gave her the idea of creating a blog with her recipes.

Meanwhile, Anja moved to London, got married and started to get into social media. Most of the times, it is her husband who helps her taking pictures and she admits he is really patient.

At the moment, Anja has more than 17 thousand followers on Instagram. “Now Instagram is quite popular, but three years ago it was not like that,” she said. Lots of followers send her private messages, and she admits it is becoming harder to reply to everyone as her followers are growing. “People who are coming on holidays but also people who live her, ask me for suggestions on where to go to eat in London,” she said.

When talking about Instagram and how people make money or get free things out of it, most people do not know how many pictures are taken and how long Instagrammers as Anja take to choose the perfect picture. There are other struggles these people go through as well, they even make jokes out of it. Listen to Anja’s confession:

Anja loves cooking, she admits she wants to spend less time with social media and eating out and get more into the kitchen. Her inspiration comes from her mother, cookbooks and websites. “In the future, I will like to write a cookbook and open a restaurant either here or back home,” she said.

She has just been in Italy and she admits she can only think about pasta now. Travelling is another of her passions she is now going to Hamburg with her friends.

As a well-known Instagrammer, she works with multiple brands and promotes them on her account. But she is picking which brands she wants to work for, “I am not promoting anything that I would not use myself,” she said. Some of the brands she promotes are Waitrose and Ocado. At the moment, she is promoting Waitrose’s Spring campaign.

“I love all the food,” said Anja. However, she admits her guilty pleasure is cheese. She prefers savoury food rather than sweets.
