What melts, is gooey and incredibly delicious and 98% of households add it to their weekly shop? Cheese of course!

The Urban Cheese Festival organised by the London Cheese Project and held at Camden Market became the meeting point for cheese lovers across London. This popular London market is already renowned for it’s diverse, yummy and wonderful food choices. Keeping the festival here was a no brainer, offering the same broad spectrum of foods - with cheese.

The project gathered cheese makers of all corners of London to display the sometimes smelly fruits of their labour. Orderly, almost hour long queues were formed in great anticipation to experience this well-loved and very addictive food.

The cheeses are hand selected and are known to be London’s best urban cheesemakers, some of which are underground makers. Attendees were given the opportunity to not only buy, taste and experience one of Britain's favourites in food options. Such as tacos, pizza (of course) and the classic mac and cheese.

The two day festival not only pairs cheeses with foods, but against the soft serenades of live acoustic music and cold cans of craft beer. Cheese and wine are not the only bedfellows. There were also stalls available for the ameture and conissoir of cheese alike to buy the necessities to create the best cheese board yet.

The vibe was buzzing on the warm May day, as the distinctive smells of cheeses wafted into the air. It was delightful to see so many cheese lovers come out in their hundreds. The London Cheese Project, the organisers of the event consists of three cheese enthusiasts - a cheese maker (obviously), a cheese journalist (yes, that’s a thing) and the founder of the Cheese Truck (note the pun). These three believe there is an underground cheese revolution taking place in the nooks and crannies of London.

Cheese maker and co-founder of the London Cheese Project, Kristen Schnepp established her company Gringa Dairy in 2014 under one of the Peckham arches. Previously working in finance, she developed her passion for cheese and set out to develop authentic Mexican cheeses.

Guilty Pleasures asked her what makes her cheese so special -
